The Sum Of Thy Word Is Truth
The Sum Of Thy Word Is Truth
Whose word can we trust?
Everybody knows that there are people in this world whose word simply cannot be trusted. They might have attained the status of top leadership in the country, they might be very wealthy, they might be considered very intellectual, they might be spiritual leaders — whatever the case may be, it is noted, often by their deeds, that their word should not be trusted.
Some people use their words to gain political power over others; some use words to illegally gain wealth; some use words to intimidate others with their supposed “knowledge”; and there are false spiritual leaders, who desire to rule over others spiritually with their words.
It’s the false spiritual leaders who can lead people to eternal death.
With the Internet, TV, radio, books, newspapers, etc., each belief system is trying to spread what they claim is the absolute truth. What in the world should we believe — if anything?
Most belief systems can almost be seen as “agreeing” quite a bit on what is “good” behavior. So, does it matter which one we “prefer”? Many will say it does not matter what you believe, just so long as you are sincere and “try” to be good.
But, God’s word, the Bible, totally disagrees with all that, because it amounts to willingly believing lies.
God’s word is the only “belief system” (if you will), that says our efforts to try to be “good” will always fail miserably because we are all sinners and will remain sinners during our whole life on earth. Our supposed good works can never save us.
God’s word is the only “belief system” in which the promise of a Savior from all our sin was presented from the very beginning — was explained and prophesied through many different prophets over thousands of years — and was all beautifully and perfectly fulfilled in the one man, Jesus Christ.
Other belief systems mock the idea of a “Savior” from all of our sins. They proudly attest that we must each work our way to heaven. But, the LORD God is the only One who says no — we can only be saved as a gift of His mercy. That is a huge difference!
None of these other belief systems has ever been able to show that they could fulfill prophecies over thousands of years of time. None of their followers has ever been able to lead a sinless life that could possibly be good enough to honestly earn heaven. Nevertheless, they claim to know the way to heaven through what they deem to be good works.
The claims of many of these different religions have been made since the beginning of mankind. Archeology shows us that. Today, they are making extreme efforts to take us away from our Savior Jesus Christ, as their worship practices slowly infiltrate our churches. People, who claim to be Christian, are looking at and adopting heathen worship practices and heathen meditation practices. This is an abomination in God’s eyes.
As responsible, loving children of God, we need to check out His word, by studying it every day. In our concerns to remain in the truth only, Jesus invites us in Matthew 11:28-30,
Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My load is light.
Then, as we find peace in our Savior, Jesus Christ, we will exclaim an honest, “Hallelujah! Lord, truly, ‘The sum of Thy word is truth, and every one of Thy righteous ordinances is everlasting!‘” (Psalm 119:160)
Love,
Margaret
