He Gives Names To All Of Them

He Gives Names  To All Of Them

Genesis 1:16
And God made the two great lights,  the greater light  to govern the day,  and the lesser light  to govern the night;  He made the stars also.

Psalm 8:3-4
When I consider  Thy heavens,  the work of Thy fingers,
The moon and the stars,  which Thou hast ordained;
What is man,  that Thou dost take thought of him?

Psalm 147:4
He counts  the number  of the stars;
He gives names  to all of them.

The creation  and sustaining  of all the millions of stars  is a most wondrous work  of God.     It took an intelligence  and wisdom  so far beyond our imagination  that we cannot even begin  to fathom it all.     And here we are — barely a speck  in all of the universe — and so finite  with our short,  troublesome lifespan.     Even though mankind  is so transitory,  he still wants to inflate himself  and pretend  he knows a lot.

But,  there is no scientist  who honestly knows  what sort of force  or power  keeps all those millions of stars  in orbit.     There are a number of theories,  but no one knows.     In other words,  our pretentious,  puffed-up  intelligence  is nothing  in comparison  to God’s wisdom   and eternal power.     Nevertheless,  some people defiantly claim  there is no God.     They will be dead  in a relatively short time — but,  the holy LORD of all  has proven  that He is eternal  as He fulfilled all sorts  of prophecies  about our Savior  from sin.

This LORD of all  knows the number  of stars  and  “He gives names  to all of them.”     We don’t even know how many stars there are,  but God  has named them all.     Considering that,  even the psalmist years ago  had to ask,  “What is man,  that Thou dost take thought  of him?”

We don’t amount to much at all,  but God still loved us enough  to send His only begotten Son  to suffer and die  to pay  for all our sins.     It’s mind boggling.     People despise Jesus,  mock Him,  and blaspheme Him — because  they are unable to comprehend  that He is our Creator and Redeemer.     Through all of this,  God graciously,  patiently,  and faithfully  continues to offer us all  the free gift  of eternal salvation.

But, many don’t have the common sense to accept it.

In the midst of all this,  we can still sing,

O little town of Bethlehem,  how still we see thee lie!
Above  thy deep and dreamless sleep  the silent stars go by;
Yet in thy darkness shineth  the everlasting Light;
The hopes  and fears  of all the years  are met  in thee tonight.

Jesus is our everlasting Light  as we realize the truths  of His eternal  love  and rest  in the peace  of His wisdom and power  to keep all of the stars  in their place — and call them all by name.     So,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  it is so good to know  that we can surely trust You  for all of our needs.     You even know the number  of hairs  on our heads.     So great  is Your wisdom  and care.”   (Matthew 10:30)

Love,
Margaret

Not that I have already obtained it,  or have already  become perfect,  but I press on  in order that  I may  lay hold  of that for which also  I was laid hold of  by Christ Jesus.
