Having Been Justified By His Blood
People often try to justify themselves. They make excuses. They claim to have certain rights. They’ll say what they do is no one else’s business. They point to some good deed they did. Even fellow sinners see through all that. They might not say anything, but they know our excuses are lame.
If we have any sort of conscience, we don’t feel so good about our excuses — our self-justifications. But, we just want to forget about our sins and think about something better.
Well, we can. Paul wrote the following,
Romans 5:1
Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.Romans 5:9
Having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.
Justification of our sins is not something we can do. Justification is not a lame excuse — a denial of the facts — or a brazen claim to rights or good deeds. Justification is an actual full payment that satisfies the debt incurred.
It’s like when a little kid accidentally bats his ball through the neighbor’s big picture window. His loving father will pay for a new picture window, along with its installment. Everything is fully paid for. The neighbor’s loss has been fully satisfied with a new window. The little kid was not able to even begin making amends by himself. But, he was greatly relieved when his father paid the debt.
The little kid trusted ( had faith ) in his father’s ability to pay his debt. We, too, are “justified by faith”. We have peace because we have “now been justified by His blood”. We didn’t merit it or earn it. God paid the price of our sins simply because He loves us and cares for us. We are His own dear children.
That’s what God Almighty wants us to have faith in — His love for us through Christ Jesus. We need to know and remember how loved we are.
God’s love for us is not to be judged by the trials we need to go through for the building up and strengthening of our faith. Because we have “been justified by His blood”, God will carry us through the thick and thin of our trials. His love has not changed when He has allowed us to have our faith tried. It’s like 1 Peter 5:10,
And after you have suffered for a little, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.
1 Peter 5:12 adds,
This is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it!
As the little kid stands in the love of his father, we stand in the eternal love of our heavenly Father, Creator, and Redeemer, and say, “Hallelujah! Lord, thank You for justifying all our sins simply through faith in the blood of Christ Jesus.”
Love,
Margaret

Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
