LORD,  Your Word Stands

Psalm 119:89-91
LORD,  Your word stands  forever firm  in heaven.
You are faithful  through all the ages.
You formed  the earth  and it continues  to stand.
By Your decrees  they stand firm today  because all things  serve You.

Facing the challenges  of weather storms,  terroristic storms,  political storms,  and personal storms  can feel  like real downers.     People often make comments  about God  not caring — unanswered prayers — maybe there is no God — maybe God  has forgotten them,  doesn’t like them,  or is just too busy — maybe there is nothing  God can do — maybe He’s not  so almighty.

When the Psalmist said,  “LORD,  Your word stands  forever firm  in heaven,”  he was stating a proven fact.     Says who?     The word  of God proves it.     Each one  of us  can check it out  for ourselves.

As we read the Bible,  note all the prophecies  about the coming  of the Savior.     They were written  throughout the Old Testament  and made  over thousands  of years.     Those prophecies describe  many details  about the life,  death  and resurrection  of our Savior.     Then,  the New Testament describes  the actual life,  death  and resurrection  of Jesus  showing how  all those prophecies  were fulfilled  in Jesus Christ.

So,  we can see  how God keeps  His word  to the letter — all to prove  His love  for each  of us  and to give us  a strong  and true faith  worth keeping.     It’s amazing  how all sorts  of events  throughout history  were used by God  to fulfill  His promises  to us.

So when the Psalmist states,  “all things serve You,”  he’s referring  to how historical events,  natural events  like weather,  and even  the evil ambitions  of mankind  have all worked together  to play  their given parts  in fulfilling God’s word.

That tells us  that even when we face  all the challenges  of nature  and sinful influences  from mankind,  we can depend  on our Lord  to not only allow us  to face  that challenge,  but to grow  in faith  through it.

With God’s proven word,  we can know  that we should  let God  lead us  by trusting  in Him.

God has promised  in 1 Peter 5:10  and 12,

And after you have suffered  for a little,  the God  of all grace,  who called you  to His eternal glory  in Christ,  will Himself perfect,  confirm,  strengthen  and establish you…….     12  … this is the true grace  of God.     Stand firm  in it!

As we keep putting  all our troubles  and concerns  in God’s care,  we can breathe an,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for proving Your faithfulness  over thousands  of years.”

Love,
Margaret
