My Words Will Not Pass Away

My Words Will Not Pass Away
There are some Bible verses that make a person kinda think, “Oh, oh! Maybe I’d better listen up.”
Luke 21:33 is one of those verses. There Jesus says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.”
In that chapter Jesus was telling His followers about the end times. Between all the disasters prophesied and family members hating one another — killing one another — all because of the name of Christ — it will be a time of great distress.
In Luke 21:17, Jesus warns His followers, “You will be hated by all on account of My name.” It seems like we are seeing some of that in the news already. School Christmas programs are no longer allowed to sing “religious” Christmas songs. Art work desecrates the birth and crucifixion of Christ. Gay rights activists make scenes in church services. In a number of foreign countries, Christians are imprisoned or killed. Many web sites have been created just for the purpose of blaspheming Christ. And the list goes on…….
It’s time to listen up. Where do we stand in this lineup? Are we trying to straddle the fence — living as if we don’t know Christ, but claiming to be Christian? Are we hiding in the bushes, pretending that none of Jesus’ words are coming true?
We need to ask ourselves where we want to be when Jesus comes. Do we really think we can suddenly become a sincere Christian at the very last second?
Just because God has proven that He keeps all of His word, it would be sensible to obey Jesus’ advice in Luke 21:34-36,
Be careful never to get your hearts burdened with drunkenness and its nausea and with worries about this life, or that day will take you by surprise like a trap. It will surprise all people wherever they live on the earth. But always watch and pray to be considered worthy to escape all these things that are going to happen and to stand before the Son of Man.
Because Jesus has also promised to never leave us or forsake us, in all this we can say, “Hallelujah! Lord, Your love and care for us is precious. Your words will not pass away — and that’s final. Let us hold onto You forever.”
Love,
Margaret

Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
