Teach Me Your Way, O LORD

Teach Me Your Way, O LORD
When we feel like we have too many different problems all at once, we simply don’t know where to turn. Our heart and mind can feel overloaded and divided over what to do next. The way to go does not seem clear and we don’t have a clue as to what is the most right.
Whatever we do, we need to do it according to the principles our Lord has laid down for us in His word. Foremost, we need to go forth in faith, hope, and love. In all things we need to do what is righteous, just, and honors our Savior. All that is because the LORD alone is God. There is no other LORD or God of any sort — never has been and never will be. We are in His hands as He leads and carries us through each test — and that is mighty good and comforting.
As King David faced his enemies and problems, he confessed his weakness and dependence upon the LORD. Then he prayed in Psalm 86:11-13,
Teach me Your way, O LORD;
I will walk in Your truth;
Unite my heart to fear Your name.
I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart,
And will glorify Your name forever.
For Your lovingkindness toward me is great,
And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.
The only way we’ll ever come out right is to let the LORD teach us the lessons He knows that we need to help us mature as growing children of God — so we pray, “Teach me Your way, O LORD.” Because we are children, we don’t see or understand what is happening the way God sees and understands. Putting our whole trust in God can seem like a big step, because we don’t have a clue how things will proceed. That is why David fervently prayed,
Unite my heart to fear Your name.
We need God to settle us down and lead us to totally respect His saving love and almighty being. To have a united heart is to have all of our knowledge about God and His sacrificial love for us join together to face the one truth that “God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God.” ( Romans 8:28 ) God is our eternal Savior.
When we “fear” God’s name, we totally respect Him for who He is — our Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer. There is no other that we should turn to for help, because there is no greater love or power. To turn to the one and only LORD God is to show Him the respect that is due to His holy name. We truly need a united heart that respects God’s holiness in every situation.
God will deliver us in His special way that leads to eternal life, and we will praise Him for the awesomeness of all that He does.
With united hearts, we say, “Hallelujah! LORD, thank You for saving us and helping us grow in faith, hope, and love.”
Love,
Margaret

Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
