Every Word  of God  Is Tested

Some people wonder  whether or not  the Bible  is true  and can be trusted.     Solomon wrote  in Proverbs 30:5-6,

Every word  of God  is tested;
He is a shield  to those  who take refuge  in Him.
Do not add  to His words
Lest He reprove you,  and you be proved  a liar.

God’s word  has been tested  in many different ways.     Those who put their trust  in God’s word  in the Bible  find that He does lead  and guide them,  even during the times  when they might be wondering  where God’s help is.     And many prayers  have been answered.

The most awesomely  difficult testing  of God’s word  is the keeping  of many prophecies  about our Savior,  Christ Jesus.     The promise  of a Savior  was first given  by God  in the Garden of Eden — and after that  God gave various prophets  over thousands of years  different details  regarding the Savior.     Did God’s word pass  that test?     Most certainly.     Even though  those prophecies  were written by many different prophets,  all of those details came true  in Christ Jesus.

The various prophets told  of things like Jesus being born  in Bethlehem  of a virgin — growing up in Nazareth — coming back from Egypt — healing our diseases — forgiving our sins — being despised and hated — being beaten  and abused — being nailed  to the cross  to die for our sins.     And the list goes on.

All of those fulfilled prophecies prove  that Jesus Christ  really is the Savior and that  God Almighty’s word  in the Bible can be trusted.     As we think  about how God  made absolutely all  of His many prophecies come true,  we need  to stand  in awe  of His authority  and power.     God’s word  also says  that He alone  is the Judge  over each and every one  of us.

That means  it is a fact  that everybody needs  to humbly listen to God’s word and obey.     God’s greatest command is  in Deuteronomy 6:5,

You shall love the LORD  your God  with all your heart  and with all your soul  and with all your might.

We are to love God  because He is the one and only God.     There is no other god  or being  that we should trust,  love,  or obey.     To claim  there are other gods  is the same as calling God Almighty a liar  and not trusting Him alone.     That would be blasphemy,  because the LORD’s word  has been tested  and proven  to be true.

That is why  everyone should be very careful  in everything they say  about God  and His salvation  in Christ Jesus.     “Do not add  to His words  lest He reprove you,  and you be proved  a liar.”

All the false prophets  who add and take away  from God’s eternal word  are purposely lying  to rob others  of God’s forgiveness  and salvation.     So,  when our eternal city is described  in Revelation 21,  it says in verse 27,

Nothing unclean  and no one who practices abomination and lying,  shall ever come  into it,  but only those  whose names  are written  in the Lamb’s book  of life.

God’s word  has been tested  and found  to be true.     With the deepest respect  and love,  we are not  to change  the tiniest bit  of what God  has said.

In reverence  and awe,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  Your word  is eternally true.     What a marvelous blessing  for all  who trust  in You.”

Love, Margaret
