Even If He Does Not, Let It Be Known to You

Even If  He Does Not,  Let It Be Known  to You…

In this life,  we experience  other people trying  to dominate  over us  and push  their godless ways  onto us.     There might be threats  to our well-being,  insinuations  of being rejected  by everyone else  in the group,  a job loss,  or other such  struttings  of domination.

Whatever the situation,  we need  to be firmly aware  of what is right  and wrong  in God’s eyes  through all eternity.     It does not matter  one little bit  what other people think,  feel,  or threaten.     Whatever happens  to God’s children,  we  will remain  in God’s care  through it all — whether God rescues us physically  or allows us  to suffer — God is  in control.     Those who reject God  might imagine  that they have gained a victory,  but their victory  will be  short-lived.

One  of the most graphic examples  of this  is the story  of Shadrach,  Meshach  and Abed-nego  in Daniel, chapter 3.     When King Nebuchadnezzar  ordered everyone  to worship  the statue  he had built,  these three Hebrews refused — because the LORD  is the one and only true God,  who will judge us all.      When the enraged king threatened  to burn them alive,  they answered  in Daniel 3:17-18,

If it be so,  our God  whom we serve  is able  to deliver us  from the furnace  of blazing fire;  and He will deliver us  out of your hand,  O king.

But even if  He does not,  let it be known  to you,  O king,  that we are not going  to serve  your gods  or worship  the golden image  that you have set up.

So,  how do we react  in much less threatening situations  in our lives?     Do we cower  and bow down  to the godless demands  of unbelievers?     Or do we boldly choose  to honor  the LORD God  for who He is — the one and only  Creator,  Sustainer,  and Redeemer?

If Shadrach,  Meshach  and Abed-nego  would have obeyed  the king,  they would surely  have saved their  earthly lives — but,  they would have sacrificed  their consciences  forever  before the LORD.     They would always  be ashamed  in God’s eyes,  because they didn’t have the guts  to do right.

Just because  there is no other God  or Lord,  we need  to do  the LORD God  the honor  of trusting Him  with our whole lives.     We should never give up  the truth  to serve  a lie.

Usually  Christians are threatened  with the loss  of earthly things.     These earthly goods  aren’t worth anything,  if we have chosen  to lose  our integrity  before God.     Our first order  of business  should always be  to whole-heartedly,  “seek first His kingdom  and His righteousness;  and all these things  shall be added  to you.”   (Matthew 6:33)

Jesus also taught us,  “Where your treasure is,  there will your heart  be also.”   (Matthew 6:21)     So, the question is:  Do we treasure God’s truths  more than  our earthly comforts?     Do we even have a clue  as to  how great a treasure  there is  in the gift  of salvation  through faith  in Christ Jesus?

Knowing the eternal greatness  of our Savior,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  thank You  for giving us  Your truths,  so that we  may truly live  in righteousness  forever.”

Love,
Margaret

Not that I have already obtained it,  or have already  become perfect, but I press on  in order that  I may  lay hold  of that for which also  I was laid hold of  by Christ Jesus.
