Little Faith

Little Faith
We can tend to get rather discouraged with our “little faith” when we’re forced into making a fast decision — when we’ve failed miserably at something — when we’ve fallen into sin of some sort — when we’ve had unending troubles for ever so long — when the whole world seems to be going kaput.
We might wryly think about the strong faith of Abraham, David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Peter, James, John, and all the other Bible heroes. So many ended up suffering and dying for their faith. “So, what’s the matter with me?” we might ask. “My little faith barely makes it through the day.”
Jesus asks us the same thing. When we people are anxious about having our daily needs met, Jesus says in Matthew 6:30,
But if God so arrays the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more do so for you, O men of little faith?
When a fearful storm arose as Jesus and His disciples were crossing the sea, Jesus asked in Matthew 8:26,
Why are you timid, you men of little faith?
When Peter walked on water, but became afraid when he took his eyes off Jesus, our Lord said in Matthew 14:31,
O you of little faith, why did you doubt?
When the disciples forgot to take bread for their trip and Jesus was teaching them to beware of the teachings of the Pharisees and Sadducees, they misunderstood and thought Jesus was chiding them for not taking along enough bread. They should have remembered that Jesus was able to feed 5,000 from a little bit of bread and fish. So, Jesus had to say in Matthew 16:8,
You men of little faith, why do you discuss among yourselves because you have no bread?
When it comes right down to it, we are all of “little faith”. God’s word records many instances in which God’s children acted in “little faith”. We all take our eyes off Jesus when fears overtake us. That’s when Jesus wants us to be like little children, who run to Daddy and Mommy every time they are afraid. They know where to go for safety. We need to remember where to go for safety. We need to know and remember the love of Jesus at all times.
Our “little faith” needs to be like a child’s faith, because Jesus said in Luke 18:17,
Whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it at all.
Jesus is proven trustworthy. If we want “the kingdom of God”, we must accept all of our heavenly Father’s promises of forgiveness and eternal life, just as He states them in His word to us — in the Bible. When we know Jesus as our Savior, who forgives all our sins, our “little faith” is beloved and blessed by our Lord.
With a trusting love, we say, “Hallelujah! Lord Jesus, thank You letting us come to know You.”
Love,
Margaret

Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
