So Loved

Crucifixion of Christ

So Loved…

Sometimes  love looks yucky.     Sometimes  love means discipline  and correction.     We usually don’t care much  for that either.     Jesus’  expression  of deepest love  was horribly gory  and unsightly.     Not even  His disciples  were understanding it  at first.     To them  it seemed like  utter defeat  —  even though Jesus had taught them  in John 3:14-17,

And as Moses lifted up  the serpent  in the wilderness,  even so must the Son  of Man  be lifted up;  that whoever believes may  in Him  have eternal life.

For God  so loved  the world,  that He gave  His only begotten Son,  that whoever believes  in Him  should not perish,  but have eternal life.     For God did not send  the Son  into the world  to judge the world;  but that the world  should be saved  through Him.

This horrendous crucifixion,  and all the terrible,  anxious feelings  of Jesus’  followers  were all a part  of God’s plan  to grant us the gift  of eternal life  through faith.     At the moment,  nothing felt  like love  as Jesus’ followers  feared even  for their own lives.     Their faith  was on rocky ground.

It took  an inexpressible  amount  of love  for God  to follow through  with the one-and-only way  to give us  true salvation  through faith.     When Adam  and Eve  first sinned  in the Garden of Eden,  they failed  to believe  in the words  of God Almighty.     Their faith floundered  —  failed.     Instead of putting their faith in God,  they believed Satan’s lie  in Genesis 3:4-5,

You surely shall not die!     For God knows  that in the day  you eat  from it  your eyes  will be opened,  and you will be  like God,  knowing good  and evil.

Believing God  is essential  to our eternal salvation.     We need  the discipline  and lesson  of God’s true love,  so we won’t  fail the test  as Adam and Eve failed.     God has proven  His love  and goodness.     We need  to believe  in our Savior  and trust His plan  of salvation.     We saw  how Satan fooled Adam and Eve.     Everything he said was a lie.     Satan lied then  and he lies  to us   today.     Our happiness  will never be found  in the garbage  of this world.

We were not created  to be gods  like the LORD,  our God.     We were created  to be His followers  and to be simply called  the children  of God  —  to be free  from sin  —  to be God’s sheep  and lambs  —  to follow  and trust  our LORD.     We are  His created beings  and He loves us dearly  because He made us.     We did not  make ourselves  —  and we have no control  over circumstances  that can overcome us  —  whether it be tornado,  earthquake,  sickness,  poverty,  death,  or whatever.

We have seen  what God’s love  has done for us  in Christ.     Let us not fail  the test  of faith.     Believing  grants us  the gift  of eternal life.     Nothing less  than believing.

Being assured  that we truly are  so loved,  we think  on how  that changes everything  in our lives,  and say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  being  “so loved”  by You  means everything  to us  today  and forever.”

Love,
Margaret

Not that I have already obtained it,  or have already  become perfect, but I press on  in order that  I may  lay hold  of that for which also  I was laid hold of  by Christ Jesus.
