We Will Come  to Him  and Make Our Abode  With Him

Many unbelievers  mock Christians  who say  Christ lives  in their hearts.     Unbelievers  will claim  it’s a stupid superstition  — a figment  of one’s imagination  —  a childish bit  of immaturity  —  or a lack of sophistication  and intellectual maturity.     But,  one needs  to remember  that it is the unbeliever  who does not understand  the Scriptures  when he tries to read it  —  it is the unbeliever  who rebels  against all  of God’s wisdom  and plan  of salvation.

God’s children  need  to remember  and keep  in mind  what Jesus says in John 14:23-24,

If anyone  loves Me,  he will keep  My word;  and My Father  will love him,  and We will come  to him,  and make Our abode  with him.     He who does not love Me  does not keep  My words.

Our heavenly Father  —  our Lord Jesus Christ  —  lives in our hearts  when we love Him  and keep His word.     God makes His  “abode”  with us.     Loving God  our Savior  naturally shows  in the lives  of Christians  because they realize  how greatly God  has loved them  in Christ Jesus.     Being loved  leads one  to be loving  in return.

1 John 2:5-6  describes our situation like this,

Whoever keeps  His word,  in him  the love  of God  has truly been perfected.     By this  we know  that we are  in Him;     the one  who says  he abides  in Him  ought  himself  to walk  in the same manner  as He walked.

Let us  “keep”  God’s words  of faith,  hope,  and love  so that  “the love  of God”  may truly be  “perfected”  in our lives  —  and that our LORD  may always live  in our hearts.

On the flip side,  Romans 1:22-25  describes  the unbeliever,

Professing  to be wise,  they became fools,  and exchanged  the glory  of the incorruptible God  for an image  in the form  of corruptible man  and of birds  and four-footed animals  and crawling creatures.     Therefore  God gave them over  in the lusts  of their hearts  to impurity,  that their bodies might be dishonored  among them.     For they exchanged  the truth  of God  for a lie,  and worshiped  and served  the creature  rather than the Creator,  who is blessed forever.

Let us be careful  to never become  “fools”  whom  God gives over  to  “the lusts  of their hearts”  as they foolishly  exchange  “the truth  of God  for a lie”.     Living  in  “truth”  is so much wiser  and better  than living  in a  “lie”.

In the peace  and joy  of having our Lord  and Savior live  in our hearts,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  it is so good  to always know  Your nearness.”

Love,
Margaret
