They  Did Not Receive  the Love  of the Truth

Sadly,  there are people  who enjoy lies  and all sorts  of evils.     They think  it is funny  to deceive others  with lies  and twists  of the truth.     It makes them feel powerful  and smart  —  if they can  get away  with it.     The apostle Paul  had to warn  the Thessalonian congregation  about false preachers,  who were trying  to deceive them  about the coming  of the Lord.     One can read Paul’s warning  in 2 Thessalonians, chapter 2.

Paul said  that the actual coming  of the Lord Jesus  would kill  “the lawless one”  with “the breath  of His mouth”.     So,  we can rest assured  that God  is always  in full control  of everything  happening  around us.     In his description  of Jesus’ destruction  of this  “lawless one”,  in 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12,  Paul said  this evil one is…….

“the one  whose coming is  in accord  with the activity  of Satan,  with all power  and signs  and false wonders,  and with all  the deception  of wickedness  for those who perish,  because they did not receive  the love  of the truth  so as  to be saved.

And  for this reason  God will send  upon them  a deluding influence  so that they might believe  what is false,  in order that  they all  may be judged  who did not believe  the truth,  but took pleasure  in wickedness.”

What a punishment  for all those  who  “did not receive  the love  of the truth”.     They first refused  to love truth  and belligerently  “took pleasure  in wickedness”.     God withstood  their wickedness  for a long time  —  giving them plenty  of opportunity  to repent  and change their ways.     But, they continued  to love  their  “deception  of wickedness”.     Instead  of loving  “the truth”  of God’s love  and salvation,  they mocked  and refused  to believe it.     It is awesome  to see  that it is God  who then  “will send  upon them a deluding influence  so that they might believe  what is false”.

These people  really think  they are in control  with all their love  of the “deception  of wickedness”,  but  in return  for their “wickedness”  God Almighty  sends  “upon them  a deluding influence”  —  and they don’t even know it  —  but it destroys them  eternally.     This is a warning  to all those  who love their wickedness  —  and it is a great comfort  to God’s children  who long  for relief  from all the lies  and deceptions  in this world.

We must stay alert  for every sort  of deception,  and realize  that no deceiver  will get away  with “wickedness”  forever.     The day  of reckoning  is coming  sooner than anyone imagines.

The wickedness,  lies,  and deceptions  we see around us  every day  will come  to an end.     In the meantime,  we need  to patiently wait  for the true coming  of our Lord.     Everyone  will realize its coming  when it actually comes  —  so we should not  get conned  by false preachers  claiming they know when and where  Jesus is coming.     No one  will know ahead  of time.

In the blessedness  of waiting  for our Lord’s coming,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for showing us  Your eternal power.”

Love,
Margaret
