Like a Beast

Like  a Beast

We have a new German Shepherd puppy  —  eleven weeks old  —  to teach  and tenderly train.     As one can see,  it is more than difficult  to get a decent picture  of him,  because he is constantly  on the move.     He certainly  has learned  a whole lot  in the four weeks  he has been with us.     And,  par for the course,  he has  a lot more  to learn  —  just as we do  in learning  to follow  our Savior’s lead.     I am so glad  that the neighboring girls  are so willing to help  socialize him.

Dogs think  in different terms  than human beings,  so  we humans need  to learn  a dog’s ways  of learning.     That requires  time  and patience  on both ends.     The truth is  that we,  also,  are different  from our Creator,  the LORD God Almighty.     The LORD knows  absolutely all things,  because He alone  created  all things.     So,  He understands  our true needs  and how  to fulfill  our lives.     BUT  —  we need  to trust   our Master’s training  and leading  —  like a good  ‘beast’.     We might need  an attitude adjustment.

That’s what Asaph  was talking about  in Psalm 73:21-24,  when he pleaded  with the LORD,

When my heart  was embittered,
And  I was  pierced within,
Then  I was senseless  and ignorant,
I was  like a beast  before You.
Nevertheless,  I am continually  with You;
You  have  taken hold  of my right hand.
With  Your counsel  You will  guide me.
And afterward  receive me  to glory.

Wow!     Asaph trusts  the LORD’s leading  — even when  he doesn’t  really understand.     That is how  we should be.     And,  that is how  my German Shepherd puppy,  Rocky,  is.     There is no  total understanding  —  but,  there is  trust   in how he  should be  —  so,  he loves  and keeps trying  to please.     It’s marvelous!

And  —  it’s marvelous  when we   keep trusting  in the LORD’s ways  —  even when  we  don’t quite  understand.     The LORD,  our Creator  and Redeemer,  does truly understand  —  and we can  truly trust  all His ways.     We need  to remember  that it is  the LORD God  who made us.     He alone  understands us  so much better  than we can ever  understand ourselves.

Let us always look  to our loving LORD  —  trusting  His every leading  and lesson  for our good.

Then,  in the peace  of trusting   our LORD,   Savior,   and Creator,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  I’ve finally  got it!     You really do  love me  —  even me!”

Love,
Margaret

Not that I have already obtained it,  or have already  become perfect, but I press on  in order that  I may  lay hold  of that for which also  I was laid hold of  by Christ Jesus.
