Planted  in the House  of the LORD

According to various polls,  many people claim  to be Christian.     But,  their lives  show faithlessness  in so many ways.     They don’t have time  for God’s word  —  their prayers  are only  for times  of dire emergencies  or desired favors  —  they live  rather decadent lives,  imagining that it’s okay  to lie,  steal,  commit adultery,  slander,  gossip,  be engrossed  in immoral entertainment,  etc., etc.     And then,  they have  all sorts  of doubts  about God  and salvation  through faith  in Christ Jesus.

So,  what is the problem?

Psalm 92:12-15  gives us  a clue,

The righteous man  will flourish  like the palm tree,
He will grow  like a cedar  in Lebanon.
Planted  in the house  of the LORD,
They will flourish  in the courts  of our God.
They will still  yield fruit  in old age;
They shall be full  of sap  and very green,
To declare  that the LORD  is upright;
He is my rock,  and there is  no unrighteousness  in Him.

“The righteous man”  is the person  of faith.     Just because  he knows,  believes,  and respects  the love  of Christ Jesus,  our Savior,  he is  planted  in the house  of the LORD.”     That means  that he stays strongly  and staunchly  in God’s eternal word.     He is not wandering off  and accepting  various philosophies,  cults,  idolatrous practices,  superstitions,  false doctrines,  myths,  or anything  of those sorts.     Why?

Because  truth  is very precious  and meaningful  to him.

“The righteous man”  sees the absolute beauty  and wonder  of God’s holiness  and goodness.     To be  “in the house  of the LORD”  is to be  in every eternal truth  of God.     “The righteous man”  does not give Satan  a chance  to plant him  into anything  that is faithless  and despicable  in God’s sight.     Because he abides only  “in the house  of the LORD”,  he wondrously will  “flourish  in the courts  of our God”.

When we stick close  to God  and depend  on Him  for all our guidance,  God will make us strong  and fruitful  in our lives  of faith  and truth.     By staying close  to God  in His word,  we won’t get bamboozled  into the flaky grossness  of this world.     We will let  God’s word  nourish us  every day,  trusting in the love  God has shown us  in Christ.     When God’s truths nourish us,  we will  “still yield fruit  in old age”,  and  “be full  of sap  and very green”,  and thankfully  declare  that the LORD  is upright;  He is my rock,  and there is no unrighteousness  in Him.”

That declaration  takes faith.     That faith grows  and becomes strong  as we allow  God’s word  to nourish us  every day.     We cannot become strong  in the true faith  if we are always wandering off  into falsehoods  or lazily  not studying God’s word.     There are many examples  of wandering faith  throughout God’s word.     In none of those examples  did those people find  any sort  of true truth.     They imagined  that they found satisfaction,  but it  was always  their sad demise.

Enjoying  the beauteous wonders  of God’s truths,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for lifting us up  into the marvelous truths  of Your word.”

Love,
Margaret
