The Secret  of the LORD  Is  for Those  Who Fear Him

Whom  do you pour  your heart out to?     With whom  do you share  your dreams,  treasures,  and love?

It’s rather doubtful  that you share anything  like these  with those  who despise  and hate you.     Much rather,  you enjoy sharing  with those  who have the same values  as you do.     Where there is  a mutual  love and respect,  we love  to share  the secrets  of our hearts.     Our dreams,  treasures,  and love  are precious  to us,  and we don’t want them  trampled on,  despised,  hated,  or laughed at.     Rather,  they are special secrets shared  with special people  in our lives.

Our LORD God  and Savior  has the very same inclination.     God shares  special things  with those  who honestly love  and respect Him.

God shared many  of His secrets  with His beloved  King David.     They were secrets  about the details  in the life  of the Savior  to come  —  secrets  about being saved eternally  through faith  in this Savior  —  secrets  about the immense joys  of being near God Almighty  for all eternity.   David even wrote a psalm  about the secrets  of the LORD.

Do we want  to be in  on God’s secret?     King David clues us in  in Psalm 25:14,

The secret  of the LORD  is for those  who fear Him,
And He will make them  know His covenant.

So,  what’s the secret?     David says  only those  “who fear Him”  get to know  the deepest special secrets  of the secret.     Nobody else  will truly  be able  to figure it out  in their heart  and mind.     To  “fear”  the LORD  is to sincerely  respect,  honor,  and love Him  for who He is.

Many people know  about the teachings  of God  —  that He is our Creator,  Sustainer,  Redeemer,  Savior,  Judge,  etc.     But,  just knowing  some words  has nothing  to do  with a true  respect,  honor,  and love  that controls our lives.     And,  many have some “knowledge”  about God’s word,  but love being caught  in the trappings  of a cult.     The cults  all center  on people earning  their way  to heaven.     Cults have absolutely nothing  to do  with having  a loving,  and very personal relationship,  with our LORD  and Savior.     Cults know nothing  about God’s love  and grace.     They are all self-centered and self-serving.

But,  when somebody truly respects  (fears)  the LORD  —  and loves  the righteous ways  of the LORD  —  loving His love  and forgiveness  in Christ Jesus  —  those people  get to know  “the secret  of the LORD”.     They get  to know  the reality  and precious treasure  of  “His covenant”.     Note:   that everything centers  on the love  of God  and His goodness  to us  measly sinners.

God is the one  who must be respected.     We are not  to be imagining  that we need control  over anything.     When  we let God’s love be  in control,  we are respecting  (fearing)  God’s authority  and love.

With humble respect,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  Your awesome love  in Christ Jesus,  is the whole  of our eternal salvation.”

Love,
Margaret
