The Eyes  of the LORD

Just as  little kids  want to imitate their parents,  so God’s children  want to imitate  our LORD.     Our LORD  sees us  at all times,  and knows everything  we think,  do, and say.     He knows  we greatly desire  to imitate Him  in love,  righteousness,  justice,  and kindness.

Just as a good,  loving child  is known  to his parents,  in a much greater depth  of knowledge,  the LORD perfectly  knows those  who love Him.     Psalm 34:15  tells us,

The eyes  of the LORD  are toward  the righteous,
And His ears  are open  to their cry.

No matter what  we are facing  at this moment,  we can be sure,  “The eyes  of the LORD”  see all  that is happening  and hears  our prayers.     We know  we are loved,  because our LORD watches over us  at all times.     Knowing  that wonderful love  of God  leads us  to want  to imitate  our LORD  and Savior.     Everything He is  brings us joy  and peace  —  so we want  to always be  in that kind  of love.

When the apostle Paul described  the love  of God  and showed the Ephesian congregation  how opposite  the world is  in their sinful ways,  he encouraged  us all,  in Ephesians 5:1-2,

Therefore,  be imitators  of God,  as beloved children;  and walk  in love,  just as Christ also loved you,  and gave Himself up  for us,  an offering  and a sacrifice  to God  as a fragrant aroma.

As we study  God’s word,  we can see  His wonderful love  and patience  with us all.     Then we can know  “the eyes of the LORD”  are on us  at all times,  and then  we want  to  “be  imitators  of God,  as beloved children,”  as we keep  our eyes  on God  at all times.      That’s the way God  wants us  to be  —  always knowing  He’s watching over us  —  and always wanting  to imitate  His marvelous love.

As we always keep  in mind  how Christ suffered  and died  for us  —  just because He loves us so dearly  —  let us also  “walk  in love”  all our lives,  so we might be “imitators  of God”.     Then  we can rejoice  knowing  “the eyes  of the LORD”  are watching over us  and He is hearing  our prayers.

In fellowship  with our Savior,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  Your nearness  and watchfulness  over us  is a great comfort.”

Love,
Margaret
