All  Scripture

With all the different kinds  of media these days,  false doctrines  and teachings  can spread mighty fast.     So,  if we have  the least inclination  to honestly want  to remain  in the truths  of God,  we really do need  to pay full attention  to God’s word  to us.     2 Timothy 3:16-17  assures us  that,

All Scripture  is inspired  by God  and profitable  for teaching,  for reproof,  for correction,  for training  in righteousness;  that the man  of God  may be adequate,  equipped  for every good work.

When Paul talks about  all sorts  of false teachers,  he says that they are  “holding  to a form  of godliness,  although they have  denied its power.”   (2 Timothy 3:5)      They really strive  to look  like good people  and make a great impression  on others  with their “interesting”  teachings.

2 Peter 2:1  says  they will,  “secretly  introduce destructive heresies,  even denying the Master  who bought them.”      Peter  was so disgusted  and repulsed  by the false teachers,  he said  of them  in 2 Peter 2:21,

“For it would be better  for them  not to have known   the way  of righteousness,  than having known it,  to turn away  from the holy commandment delivered  to them.     It has happened  to them according  to the true proverb,  “A dog returns  to its own vomit,”  and,  “A sow,  after washing,  returns  to wallowing  in the mire.”

In other words,  absolutely everyone  is responsible  for treating  and handling  the word  of God Almighty  in a right  and reverent way.     If we want  to know  what is good  for us,  we need  to stick  to God’s word  to us.     We are not  to twist it  to suit our fancy  —  take things out  of context  — disregard its holiness  —  or make up  “destructive heresies”.

It is a most honored privilege  to be able  to read  and study  God’s word,  so that we may grow  in the true grace  and love  of God.    It is awesome  that our LORD  has stooped  to speak  to us  down through the ages,  with His timeless word,  so that we might know  and receive His salvation  through faith  in Christ Jesus.     Because the Bible contains the words  of life,  we need to take it seriously,  meditate  on its message  for our lives,  and prayerfully open our hearts  and minds  to the love  of God.

We need  to remember  that teaching false doctrines  and twisting  God’s word  is blasphemy.     Regarding that,  Jesus taught  in Luke 12:10,

He who blasphemes  against the Holy Spirit,  it shall not  be forgiven him.

Remember,  All Scripture  is inspired  by God…….”      Those who chose  to blatantly teach  false doctrines  condemn themselves.     We need  to be careful  to not fall  for their deceitfulness.     Much rather,  we declare  with Psalm 119:11,

Your word  I have treasured  in my heart,
That  I may not sin  against You.

Privileged  to draw near  to God  in His word,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  Your words  of truth  are our greatest treasure.”

Love,
Margaret
