My Ways

There is so much  we don’t understand  in our lives.     When we’re having  a rough time,  one might imagine  that the LORD  is rejecting  our prayers  and doesn’t care  about our needs.     Then people  don’t want  to turn back  to the LORD,  because they don’t want  to face rejection or the judgment  they know they deserve.     But,  God doesn’t look at things  the way we do.

We are all sinners  and cannot escape  our temptations and trials.     God knows all about that  even better than we do.     God will never condone sin  — but,  nevertheless,  He still tells us all  in Isaiah 55:6-9,

Seek the LORD  while He may be found;
Call upon Him  while He is near.

Let the wicked forsake  his way
And the unrighteous man  His thoughts;
And let him return  to the LORD,
And He will have compassion  on him,
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.

“For My thoughts  are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways  My ways,”  declares the LORD.
“For as the heavens  are higher  than the earth,
So are My ways  higher than your ways
And My thoughts  than your thoughts.”

When we feel rejected  by our LORD,  we are to  “Seek the LORD  while He may be found.”     God is greatly wanting us  to turn back  to Him.     Running away  from God  —  stopping our prayers  —  not asking for forgiveness  —  not studying God’s word  —  are all the wrong way  to be.     Such hopelessness  is wrong  because it is not recognizing God  for who He is.     He created us  —  and He has redeemed us  in Christ Jesus.     How can anyone claim  that God doesn’t care?     We don’t know how  to be that loving  —  nor do we  have the power  to love that deeply.

Since God Almighty  has already invited us  to return  to Him,  we should take Him up  on such a gracious invitation.     People tend  to be vengeful  and unforgiving.     But, God  is wanting to  “abundantly pardon”.     God wants  to have  “compassion”  on us.     All we need  to do is turn  to Him  in prayer.

If we are doubtful  and distrustful,  God gently reminds us,  “For My thoughts  are not your thoughts,  nor are your ways My ways.”       If people are imagining  they must first do  so many good works,  God intently repeats,  “For as the heavens  are higher  than the earth,  so are My ways higher  than your ways  and My thoughts  than your thoughts.”      God is so much better  than any human can possibly imagine.

Just because people  are untrustworthy,  spiteful,  and vengeful,  is no reason to think  God is the same.     Because God made all  of us  and redeemed us,  we need  to think  on that  and realize the difference between God’s thoughts and ways  —  and mankind’s thoughts and ways.     Seeing God’s love  for us  in Christ Jesus,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your thoughts  and Your ways  with us.”

Love,
Margaret
