Able…  to Make You Stand

Claims  —  claims  —  claims.     All sorts  of false prophets make claims  —  even though  they have  absolutely no  authority  or honest power  with any  of them.     That’s why God’s word  bluntly calls them  false prophets.     That’s  exactly  what they are.

So,  what might they claim?     They might claim  that they are  the only ones  who can grant you entrance  into eternal life  —  that they  are the only ones  who can forgive  your sins  —  that you must live according  to their regulations,  if you want  to be saved  —  that they alone  have the “secret”  to gaining eternal life.

We must realize  that those false prophets  have no authority  or power  to grant anyone eternal life  —  no authority  from God  to forgive sins  —  no right to make regulations  beyond God’s given word  —  and no “secret”  to eternal life.     Everything we need  for eternal life  is already openly found  in God’s word  —  the Bible.     We don’t need  anything more.     There are no other  “revelations”  we should trust  —  no other prophecies  of any sort  —  no other “regulations”.     If it’s not  in the Bible,  don’t believe it.

Absolutely no one  but God,  our Savior,  has the right,  power,  and authority  to grant eternal life  to anyone.     It’s that simple.     We must totally depend  on the merits  of Christ Jesus,  who suffered  and died  to pay  for all  of our sins.

Yes,  absolutely all  of our sins  have been paid for  when Christ Jesus suffered  and died  on the cross.     That is when Jesus paid  for our sins  with His life.     Because Christ Jesus is the only Savior  we are to look for,  Jude 1:24-25  lovingly proclaims  about Him,

Now  to Him  who is able  to keep you  from stumbling,  and to make you stand  in the presence  of His glory  blameless  with great joy,  to the only God  our Savior,  through Jesus Christ  our Lord,  be glory,  majesty,  dominion  and authority,  before all time  and now  and forever.     Amen.

Amen”  to that.     We are weak  in our human nature  and unable to  “stand”  before God Almighty.   But  —  because God Almighty  has absolutely  all power  and authority,  He alone  “is able  to keep you  from stumbling,  and to make you stand  in the presence  of His glory  blameless  with great joy…”     What more can we ask?

We are not  to allow false prophets  drill doubts  into our hearts   and minds.     We must daily  study God’s word  in the Bible  to see  and understand  His free salvation  through Christ Jesus,  as Ephesians 2:8 assures us,

For by grace  you have been saved  through faith  and that not  of yourselves,  it is the gift  of God.

We don’t deserve it.     Salvation is simply  a  “gift  of God”.     We don’t “earn” gifts.     They are simply given  in love.     Let us thankfully accept  God’s  “gift”   of salvation  through Christ Jesus  and allow Him to  “make” us  “stand  in the presence  of His glory  blameless  with great joy.”

In the joy  of God’s  “gift”,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  thank You  for making us  poor sinners stand  in the presence  of Your glory blameless,  for Your name’s sake.”

Love,
Margaret
