I Will Not Give My Glory to Another
I Will Not Give My Glory to Another
In Isaiah 42, the LORD describes Jesus’ ministry, speaking of His justice, gentleness, righteousness, healings, and the fact that Jesus is a covenant between the LORD and the people. Jesus is the written promise of peace and forgiveness to all who believe in Him. Then the LORD said something we should always remember in verse 8,
I am the LORD, that is My name;
I will not give My glory to another,
Nor My praise to graven images.
So, what’s so important about that? God is the one-and-only Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer. He is pure and holy way far beyond our imagination and must be treated as holy at all times. In His purity and holiness, the LORD has done the impossible — in His covenant through Christ Jesus, He lets all our sins be totally forgiven through faith in the shed blood of Jesus.
That sort of love and sacrifice should never be trampled on by the stupidity and foolishness of this world.
But obviously, it often is trampled on by the belligerent sins of the people of this world. Just one example that we all see during this month of October is the celebration of Halloween. The beginnings of Halloween are in pagan worship and the deep-seated fears of evil spirits of the dead. The traditions of Halloween have gradually changed over the years, and today has different emphases in different communities, depending on the religious backgrounds of the people.
No matter how people “celebrate” Halloween, it is still a pagan practice based on the lies of idolatry. Leviticus 20:23 tells us,
Moreover, you shall not follow the customs of the nations which I will drive out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I have abhorred them.
Our Creator Redeemer “abhorred” the practices of the pagan nations that He let Israel conquer. In other words, the LORD hates and detests their pagan practices. If someone today claims that the Lord has changed His mind because today Halloween is just about fun and treats, we need to remember Hebrews 13:8,
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
God does not change His mind about things like this. To those who want to partner up with heathen practices, 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 says,
Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said,
“I will dwell in them and walk among them;
And I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord.
“And do not touch what is unclean;
And I will welcome you.
And I will be a father to you,
And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,” says the Lord Almighty.
Ever so glad to be a child of God and live to His glory and praise, we say, “Hallelujah! LORD, thank You for Your eternal love in Christ Jesus.”

A 2.67 year old says I Pledge Allegiance
Pray for our country.
The LORD made this day, let us rejoice and be glad in Him.
The word of the LORD is tried;
He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones;
Praise is becoming to the upright.
How blessed are those who dwell in Thy house!
They are ever praising Thee.
Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.
O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.
Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
