Everyone  Who Hears  These Words  of Mine

Most everyone  has heard something about Jesus  —  be it good  or bad.     Often their “opinion”  about God  is based  on someone else’s “opinion”.      To be fair,  one needs  to hear Jesus Himself.     Today that needs  to be done  by reading  what He said  in the Bible.     Even after reading God’s word,  people will have different opinions based on  all sorts  of reasons  in their mind.     Some will say Jesus was a good philosopher  —  a great prophet  —  a moral teacher  —  or something else  that shows they totally missed  Jesus’ central message.

At the end  of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount  [Matthew chapters 5-7],  He said,  in Matthew 7:24-27,

Therefore everyone  who hears these words  of Mine  and acts  on them,  may be compared  to a wise man  who built  his house  on the rock.     And the rain fell,  and the floods came,  and the winds blew  and slammed against  that house;  and yet it did not fall,  for it had been founded  on the rock.

Everyone  who hears  these words  of Mine  and does not act  on them,  will be like a foolish man  who built his house  on the sand.     The rain fell,  and the floods came,  and the winds blew  and slammed against  that house,  and it fell  —  and great was its fall.

Whether we were  on that mountain  back then  or are reading  and hearing Jesus’ words today,  we will either  “act on them”  or  “not act  on them”.      We will be either  “wise”  or  “foolish”.

To be  “wise”  upon hearing God’s word,  we will be building our  “house  on the rock”.     Jesus is that Rock.     He alone is the rock solid foundation  that has proven  over thousands of years  of prophecies  that He truly is the Savior,  who honestly does  take away  the sins  of all  who believe  in Him.     That rock solid foundation  of fulfilled prophecies  is what we trust  to know  for sure  that our sins  are fully forgiven  through faith  in Christ Jesus.     Absolutely no one else  is able  to have been the fulfillment  of all those prophecies.     Therefore,  it is  “wise”  to trust  in Jesus’ words alone,  because He alone  is the exact fulfillment  to the last detail.

Others have come  —  and will keep coming  —  claiming to be our way  to heaven.     The “wise”  avoid  these false preachers  and prophets  because their faith is built  on Christ  —  the Rock.     All the storms,  floods,  and winds  of false preachers  will not make them fall,  because they are  “founded  on the rock”.

But  the  “foolish”  do “not act”  on Jesus’ words.     In other words,  they do not believe  or trust  Jesus’ words.     “The sand”  they choose  to build on  are the words   of false prophets,  teachers,   and philosophers.     When the storms of life  hit them,  “great”  will be their  “fall”.     The very worst storm  will be Judgment Day,  because they chose a lie  instead of proven truth.

With faith  in proven truths,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your eternal word.”

Love,
Margaret
