Your Burden

Your Burden

We all have things  in life  that are a burden  of sorts.     Everyone’s burden  is personal  and is a problem  they cannot solve  by themselves.     Everything  is outside  of one’s control.     Since we have absolutely no power  to make things happen  the way we want them  to happen,  we can be filled  with anxiety  and feel weighed down.     King David had more  than his share  of really big troubles,  and he sang  in Psalm 55:22,

Cast your burden  upon the LORD,  and He will sustain you;       He will never allow  the righteous  to be shaken.

There is only One  that can make a difference  in the burdens  we carry  in this life.     Only  the LORD  is able  to carry our burdens  and sustain us  at the same time.     The LORD  may continue  to test our faith  by allowing the problem  to remain  for awhile,  but when  we put our faith  in the LORD  and put our burdens  on Him,  He will give us  a constant strength,  faith,  hope,  and love  that will not be shaken.     God is faithful  in causing  all things  to work  for our good  in the end  when we are faithful  to Him alone.

Isaiah speaks  of the great depths  of God’s love  for each  of us.     That love  was proven as Jesus,  the Son  of God,  suffered and died  for our sins.     Isaiah 53:4  foretells Jesus’ suffering  and lets us know  that all His suffering was  for us.     It says,

Surely  our griefs  He Himself bore,
And our sorrows  He carried;
Yet we ourselves  esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten of God,  and afflicted.

As Jesus suffered,  some people assumed  He was suffering because God was punishing Him  for something  He did.     That was not the case  at all.     All that Jesus suffered  was a consequence  of carrying our sins,  sorrows,  and griefs.     Jesus was sinless,  so there was nothing  He could have been justly punished for.     Jesus’ suffering  for our sake  was foretold  by Isaiah  740 years  before Jesus actually suffered  and died.     That’s something  to think about.     It is proof  that our sins really were  all laid  on Jesus.

Seeing here  in Isaiah  how God’s word  comes true  over hundreds  and thousands  of years,  we have good reason  to cast our burdens  upon the LORD.     We should not be too proud  to go  to the Lord  and admit our weaknesses  and sins  as we struggle  under our loads  of sin.     God wants  to carry  our burdens.     1 Peter 5:6-7  pleads with us all,

Humble yourselves,  therefore,  under the mighty hand  of God,  that He may exalt you  at the proper time,  casting all your anxiety  upon Him,  because He cares  for you.

That is the gist  of the whole Bible.     God cares  for you.     God will not help  the proud,  unbelieving,  and arrogant person  with the special  spiritual blessings  of His love,  support,  and forgiveness.     But,  for all those  who humbly repent  of their sins  and put their trust  in God,  the Lord’s almighty hand  will exalt them  at the proper time.     Wait  upon the Lord  and confidently keep looking  for His mercy.

As we walk  with the Lord  and trust  in His proven word,  we say,  “Hallelujah!    Lord,  thank You  for faithfully caring  for us  and carrying all our burdens.     It is so good  to rest  in Your everlasting love.”.

Love,
Margaret
