In Behalf  of the One  Who Waits

God does awesome things  for us.     As Isaiah remembers  God’s great acts  of love,  grace,  and power  in behalf  of Israel,  he says  in Isaiah 64:4-5,

For  from of old  they have not heard  nor perceived  by ear,
Neither  has the eye seen  a God  besides You,
Who acts  in behalf  of the one  who waits  for Him.

You meet him  who rejoices  in doing righteousness,
Who remembers You  in Your ways.

There is no other god  that can do what the LORD God  has done  for all those  who “wait  for Him”.     That means  all those  who honestly look  to God  for the help  they need.

And,  here is what is so wondrous.     In this same context,  Isaiah talks  about all the sins  and uncleanness  that Israel  was living in.     He talks  about God’s anger  and punishment  of all those sins.     And yet,  in the middle  of all that,  Isaiah says  there is no other god  like the LORD  —  because the LORD immediately  has love,  forgiveness,  and compassion  on all those  who repent  of their wayward ways  by starting  to live righteously again  —  out of respect  for the authority  of the LORD  in our lives.

We need  to remember  that  in our lives.     There is no one  who can bless us  like the LORD  can bless us  —  when we start  to rejoice  in “doing righteousness”  —  that is believing  and trusting in Him  and His word  to us.

It is  when we remember  the LORD  and all  of His righteous ways  —  turn  to the LORD  for forgiveness  —  and desire  to live  in loving obedience  to His call  of love  and salvation  in Christ  —  that God acts  on our behalf,  to help us gain the victory  in this life  of temptations  and trials.

Realizing  what God has repeatedly done  for all His people  from the beginning  of time,  we see how great God our Savior is.

As we long  to live  for our Lord  and look to Him  for our help  in need,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  You have done all things  for us  because You alone  are our righteousness  in Christ Jesus.     You even help us  to remember  Your ways,  that we may see Your goodness  and live  in it.”

Love,
Margaret
