They Do Corrupt  and Detestable Things

Year after year  as we read  most all news accounts  in any kind  of media,  we are constantly  being impressed  with a great untruth.     The untruth  is underhandedly,  and yet blatantly,  spoken of  as an assumed truth  that everyone supposedly  must accept.     Anyone  who does not accept  this untruth  is considered stupid.     Really?

What is  that untruth  that sneaks its way  into everything  the media bombards us with  day after day?     Have we caved in  to this untruth?     Has it become ingrained  in us?     It’s not a new concept.     It’s almost  as old  as the hills.

The psalmist reveals it  in Psalm 14:1,  saying,

The fool  has said  in his heart,  “There is no God.”

That’s it.     In many ways,  we  and our children  are daily  being taught  and impressed upon  that “there is no God”.     It’s implicated  in classes  from kindergarten  through college.     It’s in all the media.     All the nature programs  on TV  assume this untruth  as fact.

It does not seem  to matter  that God  has repeatedly  proven Himself  as Creator,  LORD,  and Sustainer  of all things.

Psalm 14  describes  the “fool”  who claims  there is no God.     God sadly says  the fools  in this world  corrupt themselves  and refuse  to do  what is right  and He will judge them  in the end.

So,  where do  we stand?     Does God see us  as one  of the foolish ones  of this world  or as one  of His dear children  in the “assembly  of the righteous”?

We need  to honestly examine  what influences us  in our hearts  and minds.     Is it God’s eternal word  —  or sinful mankind’s corrupt imagination?

Psalm 14:1-6  testifies  to us  in our weaknesses,

A fool says  in his heart,  “There is no God.”
They do corrupt  and detestable things.
No one does  anything good.
The LORD looks  at the world  from heaven
to see  if there is anyone wise,  who comes  to God  for help.
They have all turned away  together  and become corrupt.
Not one does right,  not a single one.
Don’t all these  who do wrong  know,
don’t these  who devour  My people know
that if anyone  eats  the bread  of the LORD
without calling  on Him,
panic  will overtake them,
because God is among  the assembly  of the righteous?
The assembly  of the humble  will  put the wicked  to shame
because the LORD  is their shelter.

We may be weak  —  but the eternal LORD of all  shelters us  and keeps us safe  in His eternal word.     Let us be wise enough  to examine God’s truths  and stick  to them.

As a child  of God,  we know  who created us  and can honestly say,  “Hallelujah!     The Lord  is our shelter.”

Love,
Margaret
