The Anger  Of Man  Does Not Achieve  the Righteousness  Of God

Because we are now  the children  of God  through faith,  we need  to live  as a child  of God Almighty  should live.     James 1:18-20  explains this  about God  —  and us,  His dear children.     It says,

In the exercise  of His will  He brought us forth  by the word  of truth,  so that  we  would be  a kind  of first fruits  among His creatures.     This you know,  my beloved brethren.     But  everyone  must be quick  to hear,  slow  to speak  and slow  to anger;  for the anger  of man  does not achieve  the righteousness  of God.

We cannot become children  of God  by our own wills.     It is  by God’s will.     It is God  who presents  to us  His eternal  “word  of truth”.     Without His “word  of truth”,  we cannot draw near  to the true God  over all creation.     As we accept  God’s word  in our hearts,  we become  “a kind  of first fruits”  —  a product  of God’s work  down through the ages  —  and  in our hearts.

All because  our salvation  is a work  of God  —  from God’s promise  in the Garden  of Eden  –  through all God’s prophecies  about our Savior  –  through  the fulfillment  of all those prophecies  in Christ Jesus  –  to our encounter  with God’s word  —  we need  to honor God’s faithful love  to us  in the way  we live.     We honor  God’s faithful love  by living  as a child  of God  should live.     That would be  by faith,  hope,  and love.

When  we live  by faith,  we are consciously  and sincerely  trusting  in God’s love  and care  for us.     God has cared  for all  of His children  through thick and thin  down through the ages.     The Bible gives us  many accounts  of God’s faithful care.

That is why  we should not  let  our “anger”  rise up  every time  life  is contrary  to our desires  —  good as they may be.

When we read  the Bible’s accounts  of the lives  of God’s faithful children,  we need  to pay  special attention  to the fact  that they suffered  ever so many wrongs.     Many even died  for their faith.     In whatever way  they suffered,  they all  looked   to God  our Savior  to take care  of them  according to  His wisdom  and righteousness.     Their faith was  that even  in their suffering  God would be glorified  and they would be saved  for all eternity.

They weren’t looking  for earthly riches,  earthly peace,  or a home  on earth.     Rather,  they were honored  to know  the love  of God  and looked  for  God’s glory,  peace,  and heavenly home.     However God chose  to lead them  was okay  with them,  because the LORD  is God  —  and eternity  is  of far greater value  than our temporary lives  on earth.

We don’t need  to always  be angry  with the wrongs  that plague us,  because God  will lead us  through it  as He strengthens us  in the true faith,  hope,  and love.     That is why  James tells  the children  of God  to  “be  quick  to hear,  slow  to speak  and slow  to anger.

Our anger  does not help  or glorify God.     Rather,  it  is easily filled   with sin  of every sort  —  like a lack of faith  in God’s ways.

Knowing God’s almighty love  in Christ,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your faithfulness.”

Love,
Margaret
