We Are the Clay

We Are the Clay
We are molded by what we invite into our lives. If we allow every sort of sin and evil into our lives, they will soon control our thinking, attitudes, and life styles. We can become something so distorted that we even hate ourselves, but feel helpless to change.
What we need is God working in our lives — so we can have the true peace and joy we long for.
Isaiah realized that truth for all of Israel. In Isaiah 64, Isaiah prays that God would come powerfully to save the Israelites, in spite of their long history of sin. He asked that God would deliver the people from the power of their sins. In other words, Israel’s habit of sinning had become powerfully entrenched in their whole lives. Sin has power. Everybody was living in the same sins, and nobody had the wherewithal to be the only one to start living according to God’s word. They were all so accustomed to their sinful life styles, and no one had any power to change themselves.
But all things are possible with God. So, Isaiah humbly prayed in Isaiah 64:8,
But now, O LORD, You are our Father,
We are the clay, and You our potter;
And all of us are the work of Your hand.
We all need to humbly pray as Isaiah, so that God our Savior might come and work His works of salvation in our lives. We need to realize that we are only a lump of clay that has no power to mold itself. God our Creator needs to remake us — change the shape of our lives — and form us into praiseworthy beings — sinless, faithful, and loving.
As God our Savior remakes us, we become free to say, “Hallelujah! LORD, thank You for faithfully working in our lives.”
Love,
Margaret
