Yet  I Still  Dare  to Hope

The prophet,  Jeremiah,  faced  and endured  every sort  of devastating trouble imaginable  as he preached  God’s word  to the Israelites,  who despised him  —  rejected him  —  mocked and tortured him  —  and even tried  to kill him.     He had no escape  and groaned,  as he bitterly realized  that God  was simply allowing  all these sufferings  to continually torment him.      In spite  of all  his unjust sufferings,  Jeremiah knew  that God  is still God  —  no matter what  we must endure.     After describing some  of his suffering,  Jeremiah wrote  in Lamentations 3:21-23,

Yet  I still dare  to hope
When  I remember this:

The faithful love  of the LORD  never ends!
His mercies  never cease.

Great is  His faithfulness;
His mercies  begin afresh  each morning.

Whatever  is happening  in our lives,  we too,  need  to “remember”  that we can  “dare  to hope”  —  just because  “The faithful love  of the LORD never ends”.     In anything  we need  to endure,  “His mercies  never cease”.     God  is always quietly  and surely  strengthening  and supporting us  in all the troubles  He allows  in our lives.     We may deeply groan  in our pains,  but God’s mercies  will faithfully “begin afresh  each morning”.

As we continually look  to our LORD  and Savior,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord, thank You  for sustaining us  through this life.”

Love,
Margaret
