Our  Daily Bread

There’s  a lot more  to love  than most people care  to think about.     Love  is much more  than words,  gifts,  and even deeds.     Love includes trust  —  and being trustworthy.     Jesus shows us that  in a roundabout way  in the Lord’s prayer  when He taught us  to pray  in Matthew 6:11,

Give us  this day  our daily bread.

Jesus shows us  that we only need  to ask  for just enough provision  for  “this day”.     We don’t need  to be greedy  and want  to hoard  provisions  for years  to come  —  or to desire  unnecessary luxuries  —  because God cares  for us.

To ask only  for provision  for  “this day”  —  and mean it  —  is  to express love  by trusting.     We’re trusting  God’s love  for us  each  and every day  —  one day  at a time.     When we trust  God’s love,  we are truly loving Him.     And,  1 John 4:19  tells us,

We love,  because  He first loved us.

God showed us  His love  by promising  a Savior  throughout the Old Testament  —  and by keeping  all His promises  about that Savior  in Jesus Christ.     That proves  that God’s love  for us  has been trustworthy  since the beginning  of time.     God’s awesome trustworthiness  is something  we can we get  to love  because it is so precious  in this world  of many troubles.     God’s trustworthiness  teaches us  His constant love  for us  —  and gives us  the peace  of knowing  His nearness  at all times.

By leading us  to trust Him  one day  at a time,  God is instilling  and strengthening love  in our lives.     God’s wisdom  knows no bounds.     In peace,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  thank You  for giving us  our daily bread.”

Love,
Margaret
