Glad  In the LORD

Some people  are negative  regarding just about everything  in life.     Being negative  goes far beyond  having legitimate concerns  over the problems  we all face.     Negativity  only looks  at the dark side  of things  —  and has no hope,  faith,  or acknowledgment  of God’s love  and power.     That’s bad  because  it’s the same  as imagining  there is no God  over all  —  or saying God  is a liar,  who does not really love us.

The bottom line  of that  is blasphemy.

Whenever King David faced  overwhelming dangers  in life,  he went straight  to God  with his problem.     He sometimes called  his prayer  a complaint,  but  it absolutely  was not negative  complaining.     Rather,  David  was simply  explaining  to God  the facts  of his dilemma,  and why he needed  the LORD’s help  —  and then  —  David expressed  his complete confidence  in the LORD  —  which was  praise  and honor  for all  that God is.

David knew  that it is only decent,  right,  and good  to always  honor the LORD  of all righteousness.     So,  David says  in Psalm 64:10,

The righteous man  will be glad  in the LORD,  and will  take refuge  in Him,
And  all the upright  in heart  will glory.

What a truth!     The Bible tells us  that God counts faith  as righteousness.     The righteousness  of having faith  will lead us  to be  “glad  in the LORD”  because we know  God is righteous  in every single situation  —  no matter what happens.     God will  make it glorious  either here  on earth  —  or in heaven.     Remembering  —  and believing that  —  will make us “upright  in heart”  and give us cause  to “glory”  in God’s redeeming power.

Laying  all  of our problems  in God’s gracious hands,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  it is good  to trust  Your faithfulness  and righteousness.”

Love,
Margaret
