Sustained  From My Birth

No matter how old or young  we are  —  how rich  or poor  —  how strong  or maimed  —  how educated  or uneducated,  it is the Lord  who sustains  and tenderly cares  for us  according to His wisdom.     An old psalmist  praised God  for His faithful care,  and said  to God  in Psalm 71:5-6,

You  are my hope;
O  Lord God,  You are my confidence   from my youth.
By You  I have been sustained  from my birth;
You are He  who took me  from my mother’s womb;
My praise  is continually  of You.

As the psalmist  thinks  of all the various,  overwhelming  troubles  he has had  throughout his long life,  he continues to praise God  for caring  for him  through thick  and thin.     We too  can think through  our lives  and see  how it is God  who has gotten us  this far.     Each of us  has a list  of personal experiences  in which  we must admit  that it is God,  who led us through.

We all need  to be thankful  and praise God  for the really  wondrous ways  in which He has led us  to where we are today.     We can’t explain  just how God did it all,  but we can see  that He amazingly  caused things  to work out  for our good  in the end.     We need  to admit that  and thank Him  —  and entrust  our future  to Him.

The old psalmist  knew how  to thank God  and gratefully declared  in verse 17,

O  God,  You have taught me  from my youth,
And  I still declare  Your wondrous deeds.

As we entrust  our lives  into God’s care,  we gratefully say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for faithfully teaching us,  so that  we can tell others  of Your saving love  in Christ Jesus.”

Love,
Margaret
