Names  To All

Our names  are special.     They point  to us  as an individual  —  separate,  of value,  and different  from others.     We are not  just an unidentifiable,  unimportant,  meaningless object.     There probably aren’t  that many people  who know us  in our sphere  of being  —  but what is utterly amazing  is that  God Almighty  intimately  knows each  and every one  of us.     He knows  our thoughts,  intentions,  every movement,  and how many hairs  are on our heads.

That’s a lot  of information  to know  when one considers  how many people  are in this world.     Our puny minds  can forget someone’s name  in a very short time  —  but God  never forgets anything  about any  of us.

To add  to that,  Psalm 147:4  tells us  even more  about God’s knowledge  and care.     It says,

He counts  the number  of the stars;
He gives names  to all  of them.

The Hebrew word  for “counts”  includes  the idea  of God  having determined  just how many stars  there should be  —  their size,  orbit,  and every other aspect  of their being.     Then  —  “He gives names  to all  of them”.     He didn’t just name  the largest,  most influential ones.     God gave  names  to all  of them”.      Everyone  is important  in God’s eyes  —  just like each  of us.

That’s important  to remember  when we’re  down-in-the-dumps  about the stuff  going on  in our lives.     This creation  is so vast,  far beyond  our wildest imagination.     And yet  God,  our Creator,  highly values  every single aspect  of it.

That is good reason  to say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD God,  thank You  for always caring  for each  and every one  of us.”

Love,
Margaret
