How Long  Will You Love  What Is Worthless?

It can be  a real burden  for God’s children  to live  amongst those  who are constantly lying,  deceiving,  and greedily trying  to amass  for themselves  all the “stuff”  of the world  that no one  can take  with them  when they die.     God’s children  are like prey  to such worldly people.     So,  King David wrote  in Psalm 4:2-3,

O  sons  of men,  how long  will my honor  become a reproach?
How long  will you love  what is worthless  and aim  at deception?    Selah.
But know  that the LORD  has set apart  the godly man  for Himself;
The LORD hears  when I call  to Him.

Even though  the ungodly  constantly  “reproach”  God’s children,  the LORD  has “set apart”  His own,  and will surely bring them  to eternal salvation.     In heaven,  God’s children  will have no regrets  for having been faithful  to all  of the LORD’s teachings.     The ungodly need  to realize  that their greed,  reproaches  and deceptions  will only condemn them  more and more.     They aren’t doing themselves  any good  in the long run.

As God hears  the prayers  of His children,  He builds them up  and strengthens them  in eternal truths.     Whatever they suffer here  brings more glory  in eternity  than anyone  can imagine.

So,  Ephesians 5:15-17  tells us all,

Therefore  be careful  how you walk,  not as unwise men  but as wise,  making the most  of your time,  because  the days  are evil.     So then  do not be foolish,  but understand  what the will  of the Lord is.

No matter who we are,  we do well  to consider  our end,  and be  “wise,  making the most  of your time,  because  the days  are evil.”     We see it  all around us,  so it behooves us  to  “understand  what the will  of the Lord is.”     He will judge us all.

Ever glad  for God’s love,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  thank You  for setting us apart  as Your children.”

Love,
Margaret
