Pass Away

We all experience every sort  of thing  passing away  in this world  —  friends,  family members,  things we own,  things in nature.     It’s a part  of life  on earth.     But,  ever so quietly  and firmly,  there is something  that will never  “pass away”.     What do we think  of it?

When Jesus spoke  of the many awful things  that will happen  in the end days,  He assured us  in Mark 13:29-31,

Even so  you too,  when you see these things happening,  recognize  that He is near,  right  at the door.     Truly  I say  to you,  this generation  will not pass away  until  all these things  take place.     Heaven  and earth  will pass away,  but  My words  will not pass away.

Jesus warned us  of every sort  of evil  that will  come upon us  in the end days.     No one  will escape  these trials  and tribulations.     But,  no matter what  we will have  to endure,  one thing  is sure  —  “Heaven and earth  will pass away,  but My words  will not pass away.”     The persecutions  will be awful  —  but the truths  of God’s promises  will never fail us.

So,  when our world  is falling apart,  we can be sure  of Jesus’ forgiveness  for all  who believe  in Him  —  His nearness  through all our trials  —  His eternal judgement  on all the wicked unbelievers  —  His grace  to endure trials  —  His promise  of eternal life  —  and His power  to keep  all  of His word  to the very last detail.

We see all sorts  of persecutions against God’s children today  —  seemingly  more so  than it has been  in the past.     The hatred  and wickedness  of unbelievers  seems to be  more intense  as they are  more determined  to destroy  God’s children.     They despise  God’s unobtrusive,  quiet power  in the coming  of our Savior,  Jesus Christ  —  imagining it  to be  too meek  and mild.     And,  they have become proud  of their ability  to tear down Christian perspectives.

We remember  —  nobody understood  Christ’s suffering  and death.     It looked like  utter defeat.     Many still think  of it  as utter defeat.     But,  it was all prophesied.     Quietly,  we know,  “Heaven and earth  will pass away,  but My words  will not pass away.”     We can safely trust  God’s eternal power.     He has proven  the power  of His word  since the beginning  of time.

Looking  to His eternal word,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  thank You  for Your word.”

Love,
Margaret
