I am the Bread of Life

I am  the Bread  of Life

Undoubtedly,  we all need food  to live.     There is no getting around that.     Even more so,  we need  the right nourishment  for eternal life.     Christ Jesus,  with the truths  of His word,  is the nourishment  we need.     Jesus witnessed  in John 6:48-50,

I am the bread  of life.     Your fathers  ate the manna  in the wilderness,  and they died.     This is the bread  which comes down  out of heaven,  so that one may eat  of it  and not die.

Partaking  of all the truths  of God’s word  and being spiritually strengthened  in those promises  is eating  “the bread  which comes down  out of heaven”.     When we let  God’s word  nourish  and strengthen us  in the true faith,  we will not  die eternally.

All  of God’s children  need  to be strengthened  in His truths  because Jesus  has warned us  in Matthew 24:12,

Because lawlessness  is increased,  most people’s love  will grow cold.

We need strength  to live  through the end days  as trials and persecutions  increase.     All around the world  Christians are being killed  and brutalized.     The persecutors  are calling good evil  —  and evil good.     Evil people  of all sorts  are working hard  to destroy the Christian faith  through mocking,  taunting,  legislating evil laws,  upholding a lack  of justice,  the destruction  of property,  etc.      As  “most people’s love  will grow cold”,  Christians will need  to be strengthened  in what God  has already told us.

Jesus has warned us  that even  within the church,  there will be those  who claim  to be Christian,  but don’t love  God’s word  —  don’t pray  —  don’t share the gospel  —  and they even  despise praise  for God’s almighty power  in creation  and salvation.     They disdain  Christ’s suffering,  death,  and resurrection.

Believing  what God’s word  has already  told us,  we need  to rejoice  in our salvation  and share  our eternal hope.     Remembering God’s promises,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  thank You  for being the bread  of life.”

Love,
Margaret
