Do You Not  Recognize This  About Yourselves?

Sometimes,  in our sinful nature,  we act very unbecomingly  —  inappropriately  —  just plain ol’ sinfully.     It’s like  our hearts are darkened,  and we forget  who we are  —  children  of God Almighty.     Maybe we’re letting ourselves  be dragged down  into depression,  unbelief,  or rebellion  of some sort.

We should not forget  that God  is nearby  wanting  to help us through  whatever  is tempting  and wearing down  our weak natures.     That is why 2 Corinthians 13:5  tells us,

Test yourselves  to see  if you are  in the faith;  examine yourselves!     Or do you not recognize this  about yourselves,  that Jesus Christ  is in you  —  unless indeed  you fail  the test?

So,  we are instructed to  “test yourselves  to see  if you are  in the faith”.     We need  to take a deep look  into what  we really think  and believe  about God our Savior.     Do our actions  and beliefs  really show  “that Jesus Christ  is in you”?     Or,  have we kicked Christ out  of our lives?     Whatever  is going on,  Jesus will always be  the “Christ”  —  the Messiah  —  the Savior.     Nothing  will ever change  that truth.

But,  are our hearts  and minds  accepting that truth?     To help us review  the truth,  we can open up our Bibles  and learn more  about God  and His saving ways.     That would be a step  in the right direction.     When we come  to realize  God’s love  for us,  John 1:12 assures us,

But  as many  as received Him,  to them  He gave the right  to become children  of God,  even to those  who believe  in His name.

That’s marvelous!     God still wants us  to grow  in His truths  and accept  His gift  of salvation  in Christ.     He still  wants us  as His children.     When we let God  teach  and strengthen us,  Galatians 3:26 assures us,

For you are  all sons  of God  through faith  in Christ Jesus.

That is God’s faithfulness  and mercy.     In appreciation,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank you  for shepherding us  through this life.”

Love,
Margaret
