In Your Presence  Is Fullness  of Joy

As we think  about heaven,  we can consider Psalm 16:11,   with King David,

In Your presence  is fullness  of joy;
In Your right hand  there are pleasures  forever.

That  “fullness  of joy”  David refers to  includes the awesome blessedness  of a sure,  eternal peace,  security,  and all the surrounding love,  goodness,  holiness,  and purity.     It’s far more  than anyone  can comprehend  on this earth.

When the apostle Peter thought  about those things,  he wrote  in 1 Peter 1:3-5,

Blessed  be the God  and Father  of our Lord Jesus Christ,  who according  to His great mercy  has caused us  to be born again  to a living hope  through the resurrection  of Jesus Christ  from the dead,  to obtain  an inheritance  which is imperishable  and undefiled  and will not fade away,  reserved  in heaven  for you,  who are protected  by the power  of God  through faith  for a salvation ready  to be revealed  in the last time.

As we look forward  to heaven,  it is comforting  to know  that we are now  “protected  by the power  of God  through faith  for a salvation ready  to be revealed  in the last time.”      During our trials  on earth,  God protects us  “through faith”.     Our faith  is in Jesus only  —  not in ourselves,  our goodness,  or our efforts.     It is Jesus  who blessed us  with this gift  of “salvation”.

We don’t even know  all the blessedness  of heaven  —  but we do know  that it is more  than mere humans  can ever perceive  on earth.     This should lead us  to always  go to Jesus  in prayer  and trust Him  to lead us through  every deceptive temptation.     Let us keep on  looking to Jesus  and the joy He wants  to bless us with.

Knowing  we will enjoy  the “presence”  of our Savior  for all eternity,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  thank You  for protecting us  in the true faith.”

Love,
Margaret
