The Lord  Knows How

One kinda hates  to look  at the world  these days.     Besides vicious acts  of terrorism,  there are false prophets  and false teachers  —  all sorts of heresies  —  so-called Christians  who deny Christ  —  greed  —  corruption  —  murders  —  rapes  —  every sort of sexual immorality  —  liars  —  senseless hatred  —  injustice…….     There is no end  to it all.

Is a Christian  to give up hope?     Not at all.     The apostle Peter listed  all sorts  of sins,  and noted  how the LORD  rescued Lot,  when he was distressed  about all  that went on  around him  when he lived  in Sodom.     Peter tells us  in 2 Peter 2:7-10,

… He rescued  righteous Lot,  oppressed by the sensual conduct  of unprincipled men  (for by what he saw  and heard  that righteous man,  while living among them,  felt his righteous soul  tormented  day after day  by their lawless deeds),   then  the Lord knows how  to rescue  the godly  from temptation,  and to keep  the unrighteous  under punishment  for the day  of judgment,  and especially those  who indulge  the flesh  in its corrupt desires  and despise authority.

Today’s world  is just like Sodom  and Gomorrah  in all  of its  gross sin.     We can be assured  that as we trust  in the Lord,  He will surely  “rescue the godly  from temptation”  because  “the Lord knows how”.     All things  are possible  with God.     We don’t have to  cave in  to any  “temptation”  as we feel  the pressures  of this sinful world.     God gives us  the strength  to live  for Him  as we put  our faith  in Him.

And,  beyond that,  we can be sure  that God is  right now  keeping  “the unrighteous  under punishment  for the day  of judgment”.     Nobody is getting away  with anything  —  no matter what  it seems like  in our circumstances.

Knowing God’s righteousness  and love,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  thank You  for showing us  the truths  of Your word.”

Love,
Margaret
