Take Time  to Smell  The Roses

People imagine their lives  to be so hectic.     We can even be busy,  busy,  busy  going to a sporting event,  watching TV,  reading a novel,  or non-nonchalantly surfing  the internet.     Then,  time flies.     And there is  no time  “to smell  the roses”.     We’ve heard,  “the hurrier you go, the behinder you get”.     We hurry  to do everything  —  and anything  —  except  to settle down  in God’s word.     We feel frustrated  because we’re  highly distracted  with so many  inconsequential thoughts.

We don’t know how  to “take time  to smell  the roses”  —  we don’t know how  to settle down  and enjoy God’s word  to us.     He alone  can settle us  in the peace  of His almighty presence.     It is so pleasant  “to smell  the roses”  with our LORD.     God’s fragrance  is so enjoyable.     We need  to learn  the peace  King David knew  when he praised God  saying,  in Psalm 145:5,

On the glorious splendor  of Your majesty
And  on Your wonderful works,  I will meditate.

Stopping  to realize  and acknowledge  God’s presence  in our lives  gives us  the wherewithal  to keep on living  according to  His saving love  in Christ Jesus.

We are  in God’s presence when we are meditating  on His word  to us  —  listening  to what He wants us  to realize.     Time  enjoying God’s word  to us  is time well spent.     It gives us  the peace  Jesus spoke of  in John 14:27,

Peace  I leave  with you;  My peace  I give  to you;  not as the world gives  do I give  to you.     Do not let  your heart  be troubled,  nor let it be fearful.

Enjoying God’s presence  in His word,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  Your mercies  are ever new  in Your word  to us.     Thank You  for the peace  of Your presence.”

Love,
Margaret
