Walk  In A Manner Worthy

God loves us more than any human words can express  —  even in the midst  of our heartaches,  loneliness,  trials,  losses,  and any other earthly tragedy  we can experience.     As we remain steadfast  in faith,  hope,  and love,  God is glorified forever and ever  —  because it is actually  our Lord  who is teaching us,  holding us up,  and strengthening us  day by day.

Having experienced this,  Paul says  in Ephesians 4:1-3,

I,  therefore,  the prisoner  of the Lord,  entreat you  to walk  in a manner worthy  of the calling  with which you have been called,  with all humility  and gentleness,  with patience,  showing forbearance  to one another  in love,  being diligent  to preserve  the unity  of the Spirit  in the bond  of peace.

Here is Paul,  experiencing far more trials  and tribulations  than we  —  and he longs  for us  “to walk  in a manner worthy  of the calling  with which you have been called.”

When we came  to realize  that Jesus  is our Savior,  we were not called  to be proud,  demanding,  judgmental,  impatient,  loveless,  or willing  to twist God’s word  to fit our selfish,  self-centered desires.     Much rather,  for the sake  of God’s truth  and salvation  in Christ Jesus alone,  God wants us  “to walk  in a manner worthy  of the calling  with which you have been called.”     We were called  to honor God  —  not some other human being.

That means  we really need  to know  God’s truths  —  just as they are presented  in His word,  the Bible.     We are not called  to lamely accept  the teachings  of some mere sinful human.     Much rather,  we are  to delve  into the Bible  and allow God  to teach us  His word.     He is able.

If we honestly want  to walk worthy  in this life,  we are  to pay close attention  to all  of God’s word  to us.     Jesus has already instructed us  in John 8:31-32,

If you continue  in My word,  then you are truly disciples  of Mine;  and you will know  the truth,  and the truth  will make you free.

In the freedom  of God’s truths  to us  we can walk  in a manner worthy  of the calling  with which”  we have been called.     So,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  Your love  in the shedding  of Your blood  makes us worthy.”

Love,
Margaret
