I Will Walk  At Liberty

It feels good  to walk about freely  —  going where  you want  to go  —  enjoying the scenery  —  marveling  at the wonders  of the things  of God  around us  —  not constrained  by legalistic  or worldly demands.    That is how  a psalmist pictured  his walk  through  this life  with God.     He wrote  in Psalm 119:45,

And  I will walk  at liberty,
For I seek  Your precepts.

This psalmist  was going  through this life  walking  “at liberty”  —  freely  enjoying  God’s love  and salvation.     Where did he find such  “liberty”?     The reason  he gave is,  “For  I seek  Your precepts”.

This psalmist sought out  God’s  “precepts”  —  God’s commandments  and ways  of being holy.     He did not forget  how God  has taught  us to live  in love,  faith,  and the hope  of eternal life.     When  he would  “seek”  the right way  to be  in any given situation,  he always considered  God’s “precepts”  —  God’s commandments,  and the reasoning  behind each commandment.

His seeking  was time spent  in a careful  and prayerful study  of all  of God’s word.     He not only investigated  God’s word,  but practiced it.     As he sought  to follow  the Lord,  we know  he was not perfect  —  just a sinner  like the rest  of us.     But,  we can be sure he was a forgiven sinner  because he often spoke of trusting and believing  the Lord’s promises.     He often asked God  to teach him  the right way.

We also  can experience  the freedom  of being  “at liberty”  with God  as we “seek”  God’s ways  for us  and practice living  in the love  that He shows us  in Christ Jesus.

Free  and at peace  with our LORD  and Savior,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord,  it is so good  to know Your love.”

Love,
Margaret
