Walk  in Love

When Paul  was encouraging  the Ephesian church  in their Christian faith,  he warned them  to not fall  for the deceptive preaching  of deceitful preachers,  and said  in Ephesians 4:15,

But  speaking the truth  in love,  we are  to grow up  in all aspects  into Him,  who is the head,  even Christ.

They were  to be careful  to no longer live  like the heathens  around them,  who daily practiced  all sorts  of sins.     It is always important  for Christians  “to grow up  in all aspects  into Him”.     We can’t be satisfied  to live  like heathens,  who don’t know any better,  because we have come  to know the truth  about God’s love  for us  in Christ,  and the high price  He paid  to redeem us  from hell.

Paul wrote on  to describe  a better Christian life,  in which we knock off  all the bitterness,  wrath,  anger,  slander,  and malice  in our living.     As Almighty God’s beloved children,  we need  to be  better than that.     So,  Paul says  in Ephesians 5:1-2,

Therefore  be imitators  of God,  as beloved children;  and walk  in love,  just as Christ  also loved you  and gave Himself up  for us.

We are to  “be imitators  of God”  Himself.     That means  we are to imitate  God’s righteousness  in all  of our living.     There is to be no more hatefulness,  jealousy,  greediness,  or impurity  of any sort.     We will gladly do this  when we know  and appreciate  how much  God loves us  and calls us  His  “beloved children”.

It’s with that knowledge  and appreciation  that we  “walk  in love”  day by day  —  always looking  to God  for guidance.     Remembering  Jesus’ love  on the cross  strengthens us  to live  for Him.

As we keep growing  in Christ,  and walking  “in love”,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Lord Jesus,  Your love  is most wondrous.     Thank You  for loving us  so faithfully.”

Love,
Margaret
