God Has Chosen

God  Has Chosen

If  we’re honest  in our assessment  of ourselves,  every one  of us  will see failures,  sins,  unworthiness,  and many times  in which  we have been  unfaithful  to our Lord  and Savior.     We could very well doubt  that God loves us  any more.     After all,  we haven’t done anything deserving  of being considered  a child  of God.     Instead,  we’re shameful  and weak  every time  we fall  into sin.

Even the unbelievers sneer  at our weaknesses.     They’ve noticed.

But,  there is a wonderment  for us  to look up to  in 1 Corinthians 1:27-28,

God has chosen  the foolish things  of the world  to shame  the wise,  and God has chosen  the weak things  of the world  to shame the things  which are strong,  and the base things  of the world  and the despised  God has chosen…….

God still loves us  because we continue  to look up  to Him.     God loves us  because we recognize  our sinful nature  and depend  on Christ Jesus  to be our Savior.     We know that Christ  is sinless  and almighty in leading us  through this life  to eternal glory  with Him.     Instead of trying  to puff up  any good thing  we have done,  we realize  the holy truth  of 1 Corinthians 1:30,

But  by His doing  you are  in Christ Jesus,  who became  to us wisdom  from God,  and righteousness  and sanctification,  and redemption,  so that,  just as  it is written,  “Let him  who boasts,  boast  in the Lord.”

We’re not supposed  to pretentiously boast  in ourselves.     We have nothing  to honestly boast about.     Rather,  we boast  “in the Lord”  who imputes His “righteousness”“wisdom”“sanctification”,  and “redemption”  to us.     Jesus gives us  all this  as a gift,  because He loves us.

That seems foolish  in the eyes  of this world,  but it is God’s  “wisdom”  in saving us.     We need His gifts  —  and “God has chosen”  us  to receive  His gifts.     Therefore,  Colossians 3:12 says,

As those  who have been chosen  of God,  holy  and beloved,  put on a heart  of compassion,  kindness,  humility,  gentleness  and patience…….

Glad  to so strive  to live  as God’s child,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Thank You  for choosing us  and leading us.”

Love,
Margaret
