To a Mature Man

Little children  and young people long  for maturity.      They have many reasons  for wanting  to grow up.     Often,  their reason is  so that they can really be  like their dad  or mom.

The same holds true for Christians.     We long to be a mature Christian  —  filled with a true knowledge  —  having a strong,  right kind  of faith  that will withstand  every temptation  —  possessing a real knowledge  of who Christ is  —  and just being an all-around good Christian.

God wants all  of us  to be all that, also.     So,  He has given us  His word  (written by His apostles,  prophets,  and evangelists),  along with pastors and teachers  to help guide us  into being  the best Christian  we can be.     Ephesians 4:11-13  tells us,

And He gave some  as apostles,  and some as prophets,  and some as evangelists,  and some  as pastors  and teachers,  for the equipping  of the saints  for the work  of service,  to the building up  of the body  of Christ;  until we all attain  to the unity  of the faith,  and the knowledge  of the Son  of God,  to a mature man,  to the measure  of the stature  which belongs  to the fullness  of Christ.

We can be taught  by the “apostles”“prophets”,  and “evangelists” by reading  and meditating  on what they have written  in the Bible.     When we examine everything  within the word  of God  and apply it  to our lives,  we can be built up  in  “the body  of Christ”.     With God’s word  in our hearts,  we can “all attain  to the unity  of the faith”.

It’s when we faithfully accept  what God’s word  tells us  that we can have  “the knowledge  of the Son of God”,  become  “a mature man”  in the faith,  and live  a life that comes to  “the measure  of the stature  which belongs  to the fullness  of Christ”.     Yes,  we will be growing  in God’s truths  all our lives.

And,  it’s well worth it.

Awed  by God’s love  in Christ,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for helping us grow  in the true faith.”

Love,
Margaret
