A Good Work  in You

Sometimes Christians  get down  and just feel like  they’re spinning their wheels  in the mud.     They wish  they were  “better”  Christians  in accomplishing more  important things  in this life.     They want  to be more  “grown up”  into God’s truths  and feel like  the going  is too slow.

There is good news.     Paul assures us  in Philippians 1:6,

I am confident  of this very thing,  that He  who began  a good work  in you  will perfect it  until the day  of Christ Jesus.

We are God’s work  —  not our own work.     It is God  who began  the  “good work”  of a true faith  in us,  and He will  “perfect it”  as we abide  in Him.     We are not  to be wrapped up  in all the troubles we see  around us.     2 Corinthians 4:18 reminds us,

We look not  at the things  which are seen,  but at the things  which are not seen;  for the things  which are seen  are temporal,  but the things  which are not seen  are eternal.

That is why  2 Peter 3:14-15 says,

Therefore,  beloved,  since you look  for these things,  be diligent  to be found  by Him  in peace,  spotless  and blameless,  and regard  the patience  of our Lord  as salvation.

As we seek  God’s truths  in His word,  He will continually protect  and guide us  until we reach our heavenly home.     With that hope,  1 John 2:24 says,

As for you,  let that abide  in you  which you heard  from the beginning.     If what you heard  from the beginning  abides  in you,  you also  will abide  in the Son  and  in the Father.

What we  “heard  from the beginning”  is God’s word  in the Bible.     There God’s  “good work  in you”  will be perfected,  and we will say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for faithfully making us stand  in You.”

Love,
Margaret
