Into Your Hand I Commit My Spirit

As Jesus breathed His last breath  for us  on the cross,  He said  in Luke 23:46,

Father,  into Your hands  I commit My Spirit.

A thousand years  before Christ’s coming,  King David prayed  for God’s strength  against his slanderous,  scheming enemies.     As he thought about  how the LORD  is our righteous rock,  fortress,  and guide  in every situation,  he said  in Psalm 31:5,

Into Your hand  I commit my spirit;
You have ransomed me,  O LORD,  God  of truth.

We need  to do the same  as we face each day.     Just because we have weaknesses,  inabilities,  and troubles  of every sort,  we need  to entrust  our spiritual and physical welfare  into the hands  of our Creator Redeemer.     We cannot reach our heavenly home  through our own efforts  and strength.     We need God  all the way  to the very end  of this life  —  and through eternity.

Resting  in God’s hands,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  it is good  to trust  in Your faithful love.”

Love,
Margaret
