Upright  in Heart

When King David thought  about his repentance  and God’s forgiveness,  he was so thankful  for God’s willingness  to forgive him  as he trusted  in God’s promises.     David wrote about God’s willingness  to help sinners  every time they would go to Him  with trusting hearts.     He sang in Psalm 32:10-11,

Many  are the sorrows  of the wicked,
But  he who trusts  in the LORD,  lovingkindness  shall surround him.

Be glad  in the LORD  and rejoice,  you righteous ones;
And shout  for joy,  all you  who are upright  in heart.

God loves all those  who trust  in Him  because that is the only right thing  for us  to do.     He is the one who created us  and it is only the LORD  who has the power  to redeem us.     It is God  who is in control  of all things.     It is only  with Him  that all things are possible  —  and nothing is impossible.     Only the LORD  our Savior  is able  to wash away  all our sins.     So,  if we trust  in other things  to cover our sins,  we are fooling ourselves  and showing  that we are rejecting God  as our Redeemer.

But,  when we accept  the truths  of the LORD’s trustworthiness  to forgive  and save us,  we are doing  the right thing.     Then we are being  upright  in heart.     Then God sees us  as the “righteous ones”.     When God sees us  as  “upright  in heart”,  for sincerely turning  to Him,  we can truly   “Be glad  in the LORD  and rejoice”.     We are in God’s grace.

With the joy  of God’s righteous love  for us,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  blessed  are You  for the wondrous beauty  of Your love  in all things.”

Love,
Margaret
