Marriage  Is to Be Held  in Honor  Among All

We are  probably aware  of the Supreme Court’s decision  regarding gay marriage.     The people  of the United States are  in controversy  over this subject.     As hot  as the debate may be,  everyone should humbly listen  to what our Creator,  Redeemer  has to say  in the Bible.     Throughout the Bible,  there are sometimes specific references  to homosexuals  —  and at other times descriptions  of their wrongdoings.     A whole book  could be written  on the subject,  but just a few verses can present  God’s view.     One can consider,

Marriage  is to be held  in honor  among all,  and the marriage bed  is to be undefiled;  for fornicators  and adulterers  God will judge.       Hebrews 13:4

But  for the cowardly  and unbelieving  and abominable  and murderers  and immoral persons  and sorcerers  and idolaters  and all liars,  their part  will be  in the lake  that burns  with fire  and brimstone,  which is the second death.       Revelation 21:8

In the above verses,  fornicators  and immoral persons  is in reference to a Greek word meaning a man  who prostitutes  his body  to another man’s lust  for hire.     Then,  in another Greek word specifically meaning  a sodomite or homosexual,  one reference  in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 reads,

Or do you not know  that the unrighteous  will not inherit  the kingdom  of God?     Do not be deceived;  neither fornicators,  nor idolaters,  nor adulterers,  nor effeminate,  nor homosexuals,  nor thieves,  nor covetous,  nor drunkards,  nor revilers,  nor swindlers,  will inherit  the kingdom  of God.     Such were some  of you;  but you were washed,  but you were sanctified,  but you were justified  in the name  of the Lord Jesus Christ  and in the Spirit  of our God.

Note the forgiveness  of God  to all  who turn  to God  in honest repentance  and faith.     The top two verses warn us  that  “God will judge”  —  and that the unrepentant surely  “will be  in the lake  that burns  with fire and brimstone”.

Each individual  needs  to listen up  and respect  his Maker and Redeemer.     God will hold everyone  to account.     And,  it wouldn’t hurt  to pay attention  to Isaiah 10:1,

Woe  to those  who enact  evil statutes
And  to those  who constantly record  unjust decisions.

Thankful  for God’s grace  in Christ Jesus,  we turn  to our Lord,  and say,  “Hallelujah!     LORD,  thank You  for Your mercy  and forgiveness  to all  who turn back  to you.”

Love,
Margaret
