The LORD Laughs at Him

The LORD Laughs at Him
All around the world, Christians suffer for their faith. They face martyrdom, mocking, beating, unjust judicial decisions, slander, imprisonment, and rejection of every sort. At times like these, King David says in Psalm 37:1,
Fret not yourselves because of evildoers,
Be not envious toward wrongdoers.
David goes on to remind God’s children of God’s trustworthiness and ability to carry us through every situation, as we trust Him and wait patiently for His work to be done. He wants us to remember in Psalm 37:12-17,
The wicked plots against the righteous
And gnashes at him with his teeth.
The LORD laughs at him,
For He sees his day is coming.
The wicked have drawn the sword and bent their bow
To cast down the afflicted and the needy,
To slay those who are upright in conduct.
Their sword will enter their own heart,
And their bows will be broken.
Better is the little of the righteous
Than the abundance of many wicked.
For the arms of the wicked will be broken,
But the LORD sustains the righteous.
From our earthly perspective, it appears that evil is the winner in all their “wicked plots against the righteous”. But, in spite of all the evils they carry out, “The LORD laughs at him”. God knows the judgments He will carry out on the wicked. They won’t be getting away with anything. Actually, their continual evils are only increasing their eternal punishments. They are silly and senseless in their wicked efforts, but cannot understand that. They can’t take anything with them and will die in eternal defeat.
We can trust the LORD and, “Fret not yourselves because of evildoers”, because we know, “the LORD laughs at him”.
As our Savior sustains us, we say, “Hallelujah! LORD, thank You for Your constant care.”
Love,
Margaret
