Feed On His Faithfulness

Feed On His Faithfulness
Because of God’s all-powerful love, we should not let ourselves faithlessly fall into depression over our life’s troubling situations. Whatever is going on, God is still in control and can be depended upon to carry us through. That is why King David wrote in Psalm 37:3,
Trust in the LORD, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
So, just how do we “feed on His faithfulness”? To “feed” on something is to get nourished and cared for by it. Sheep and cattle will graze on the grass they need. A shepherd will lead his flock to good pastures, so that they may gain nourishment.
We all need to “feed” on good foods in order to maintain our physical strength. Our souls also need good nourishment every day — they need to “feed” on the truths of God’s “faithfulness”. When we “feed on His faithfulness”, we study and meditate on God’s word, so that our souls can be nourished and strengthened with the truths of God’s “faithfulness” towards us. It is in the Bible that we hear the words of God and His promises of total forgiveness, faithful love, and eternal salvation.
Good food can be set right in front of us — but, unless we put forth the effort to eat it, it does us no good. The same is true with God’s word. Unless we put forth the effort to study and meditate on the Bible to feed our souls, it will do us no good. We need to “feed on His faithfulness” if we honestly desire eternal life and strength to get through the challenges of each day.
Strengthened by the truths of God’s “faithfulness”, we say, “Hallelujah! LORD, thank You for teaching us in Your eternal word.”
Love,
Margaret
