Jesus Loves Me, This I Know

Jesus  Loves Me,  This I Know

It’s odd,  how we know  a lot of things  as a child  —  but,  doubt  and dismiss them  as an adult.     One example is the love  and forgiveness  of God Almighty.     Little children  can be very assured  of God’s love  for them  —  but,  as they mature,  they have sins  that really burden them  —  and they begin  to doubt  God’s love  for such sinners.

In their growing up years,  they lovingly sang,  Jesus Loves Me,  This I Know,

1.    Jesus loves me,  this I know,
For the Bible tells me so;
Little ones to Him belong,
They are weak,  but He is strong.

     Refrain

      Yes,  Jesus loves me!
      Yes,  Jesus loves me!
      Yes,  Jesus loves me!
      The Bible tells me so.

2.    Jesus loves me,  He who died
Heaven’s gate  to open wide;
He will wash away  my sin,
Let His little child come in.      (Refrain)

3.    Jesus loves me,  He will stay
Close beside me  all the way;
If I love Him  when I die,
He will take me home  on high.      (Refrain)

This song  is a song  of the truths  of biblical justification  in Christ Jesus.     To be justified is  to be shown free  from blame.     So many  biblical verses  say things like:

For we maintain  that a man  is justified  by faith  apart  from works  of the Law.     Romans 3:28

Therefore,  having been justified  by faith,  we have peace  with God  through our Lord Jesus Christ.     Romans 5:1

Now  that no one  is justified  by the Law  before God  is evident;  for  “The righteous man shall live  by faith.”     Galatians 3:11

Therefore  the Law  has become  our tutor  to lead us  to Christ,  so that  we may be justified  by faith.     Galatians 3:24

God emphasizes this truth  throughout the Bible.    Jesus’ suffering,  death,  and resurrection  justify us  in God’s eyes.     Without a doubt,  “Jesus Loves Me, This I Know“.

Resting  in Jesus’ loving arms,  we say,  “Hallelujah!     Thank You,  Jesus,  thank You!”

Love,
Margaret
